The ILA's 2009 Conference was held at the St. David's Hotel and Spa overlooking the waterfront of Cardiff Bay during the weekend of 27 - 29 March 2009. Following drinks and a buffet dinner on Friday night for those travelling some distance to Wales, 103 members attended the conference on Saturday which was chaired by The Honourable Mr Justice Briggs. Speakers presenting papers included Chief Registrar Stephen Baister, Ken Baird, Philip Jones QC, Paul Girolami QC, Peter Cranston and Steven Fennell. Copies of the conference papers are available here. A particular highlight was the interview by Rita Lowe of Alan Bloom, office holder in Barings, Finelist, Railtrack, TXU, Metronet, Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander, Landsbanki and Nortel. Members then in the evening had the rare opportunity of dining and relaxing in the National Museum of Wales at the black tie Gala Dinner.
