ILA Academic Forum and Annual Conference, 20 and 21 April 2018, London BOOKING NOW OPEN

We are delighted to invite you to book your place at the 2018 ILA Academic Forum and Annual Conference, details of which are included below and in the conference brochure available here.

Academic Forum

  • The Academic Forum will take place on Friday 20 April 2018 at The London School of Economics and Political Science, 29 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London WC2A 3EG.
  • The day will focus on ‘hot topics’ in corporate insolvency and personal bankruptcy law including the European Commission proposals for harmonisation, reform of the English corporate restructuring and insolvency framework, financial institution resolution, Brexit, and the implications of the rising consumer debt burden.
  • The Academic Forum is free for full-time academics in the field of restructuring and insolvency. Others who are booked to attend the Annual Conference are also welcome to book a place at the Academic Forum for a small supplement.

Annual Conference

  • The Annual Conference will take place on Saturday 21 April 2018 at Mary Ward House, 5-7 Tavistock Place, London WC1H 9SN.
  • The conference will be chaired by the Honourable Lord Justice Newey. The day will begin with a discussion of how certain key issues for restructuring are addressed in Chapter 11. A series of speakers will then focus on these issues from a UK perspective, as we think about where the UK regime may be superior, where it would benefit from reform and the extent to which the US Bankruptcy Code might be used as a model for reform.
  • The Annual Conference will open with an informal standing buffet reception on the evening of Friday 20 April at Mary Ward House, in place of the annual gala dinner. All delegates to the Annual Conference are warmly invited to the reception (included in the conference package) which is structured to allow arrival and departure at any time throughout the course of the evening. Academic Forum delegates are also very welcome for a small fee. We would like to thank Erskine Chambers, Guildhall Chambers and South Square for their generous sponsorship of this reception.

For more details on the conference, including the full technical programmes, and to book your place, please download the booking form below. There is an early bird 10% discount for bookings received before 31 January 2018.

We are grateful to GLAS, as generous sponsors of the ILA.

The ILA Council is looking forward to welcoming you to our flagship annual event. We are sure that this will be a conference not to be missed and encourage members to book early to avoid disappointment.
